Dutch Biophysics 2018, on October 1st and 2nd in the Koningshof Veldhoven, was a great success. This conference is co-organized by NWO Domain Science (ENW), the Netherlands Society for Microscopy, the Dutch Society of Cell Biology and the Society for Biophysics and Biomedical Engineering (BIOPM).
More participants then previous years participated in the conference and discussing their latest research, in plenary lectures and parallel sessions.
BIOPM sponsored two key prizes: the poster prize and the annual thesis prize.
The Thesis Prize for the best PhD thesis in Biophysics or Biomedical Engineering 2018 was awarded to Yusaku.Hontani for his thesis “Photoreaction dynamics of functional photoreceptor proteins”. He defended his thesis successfully at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam on 4 July 2018.

DutchBiophysics 2018 Veldhoven, 1 - 2 October
CALL FOR REGISTRATION
You are cordially invited to DutchBiophysics 2018, the annual Dutch Meeting on Molecular and Cellular Biophysics, to be held on 1 and 2 October at the NH Koningshof in Veldhoven.
The Dutch Meeting on Molecular and Cellular Biophysics is organised and sponsored by NWO Domain Science (ENW), in co-operation with the Netherlands Society for Microscopy, the Society for Biophysics and Biomedical Technology, and the Dutch Society of Cell Biology.
Abstract submission and selection
Participants can submit an abstract for an oral or a poster presentation. The deadlines for the submission of abstracts are:
- for an oral presentation: 29 May 2018, 12.00 hrs (noon);
- for a poster presentation: 30 August 2018, 12.00 hrs (noon).
- for the Thesis award of the Netherlands' Society for Biophysics and Biomedical
Engineering: 1 July, 2018 (more information on Thesis award, website BIOPM)
Because of the limited number of time slots for oral presentations, the Programme Committee will make a selection from the abstracts submitted for oral presentations.
The result of the selection will be notified to the authors by the end of July. Abstracts submitted but not selected for oral presentation will be transferred as a poster presentation.
You can submit an abstract via this link. This link and more information can also be found on the website.
Poster Prize
The Society for Biophysics and Biomedical Technology will sponsor a poster prize for the three best posters, to be selected during the meeting.
Registration
The registration deadline is 30 August 2018, 12:00 hrs (noon).
Participation, including hotel accommodation from 1 to 2 October 2018, is free of charge. However, if you fail to show up and you do not cancel your reservation in advance by contacting the conference organisers, you will be charged for the costs (€300 for two-day participation).
Please note that submission of an abstract does NOT imply registration for the conference!
You can register for the conference via this link. This link and more information can also be found on the website.
DutchBiophysics with joined BIOPM meeting 2021
Monday 11 and Tuesday 12 October 2021
CALL FOR ABSTRACTS
Would you like to contribute to DutchBiophysics 2021? You can do so by giving an oral or poster presentation about your research progress. The call for abstracts is now open, do not hesitate to submit your abstract!
The session of BIOPM is: BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING
You can submit your abstract for a poster or oral presentation via the website (heading Abstracts). Subsequently, the Scientific Programme Committee selects the abstracts. In August, the selected authors will receive an invitation. If your abstract is not selected for an oral presentation, we will invite you for a poster presentation. The three best posters will be awarded a poster prize sponsored by the Society for Biophysics and Biomedical Technology.
Please note that you have to register for the congress independently from your abstract submission. Registration for DutchBiophysics opens in June and will close 7 September 2021, 14.00 hours CE(S)T.
DutchBiophysics takes place on Monday 11 and Tuesday 12 October 2021 and is organised and sponsored by NWO Domain Science (ENW) in co-operation with the Netherlands Society for Microscopy, the Society for Biophysics and Biomedical Technology, and the Dutch Society of Cell Biology.
We aim to gather Dutch researchers working in the biophysics field. To do so in times of the COVID-19 pandemic, the format of the conference might change in line with measures taken by the government in the coming months. Whether it will be digital or live, the organisation will do its utmost to present to you an exciting programme with plenary sessions with invited presentations by (inter)national speakers, poster sessions and parallel sessions with oral presentations.
So, mark 11 and 12 October 2021 in your calendar and visit DutchBioPhysics website for more information and to submit your abstract.
Dutch Biophysics 2017, on October 2nd and 3rd in de Koningshof Veldhoven, was again a great success. At this conference, co-organized by FOM, ALW, the Netherlands Society for Microscopy and the Society for Biophysics and Biomedical Engineering (BIOPM), it was a well-attended conference with biophysicists, biologists and biomedical engineers gathered and discussing their latest research, in plenary lectures and parallel sessions.
BIOPM sponsored two key prizes: the poster prize and the annual thesis prize.
The Thesis Prize for the best PhD thesis in Biophysics or Biomedical Engineering 2017 was awarded to Ineke Brouwer for her thesis “Probing biological interactions one molecule at a time – An optical tweezers analysis of protein-mediated membrane fusion and DNA repair”. She defended her thesis successfully at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam on September 19, 2016.
