Board of VVB-BMT

Board members of the Netherlands' Society for Biophysics and Biomedical Engineering, BioPM

Chairman

Prof. dr. Frans W. Cornelissen is a biologist and professor at the Department of Ophthalmology of the University Medical Center Groningen. His group does performs research of the neural foundation of visual perception , as well as to changes in it as a result of eye diseases hereby using neuroimaging methods such as MRI, eye movement measurements and psychophysics.

Treasurer

Dr. Huib Versnel is associate professor at the University Medical Center Utrecht in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology. He performs biophysical research on the auditory system relatedto deafness and cochlear implants. Evoked potentials are recorded from the auditory nerve up to the auditory cortex. In his studies psychophysics and neuro-imaging are applied as well.

Secretary

Drs. John Klaessens is Clinical Physicist and Radiation Protection Expert working at a General Medical Center.
His research work is done in the field of Biomedical Optics: light (laser) tissue interaction, tissue perfusion, tissue oxygenation and non-contact vital-sign monitoring, all for diagnostic and therapeutic applications.

Board member

Prof. dr. ir. Erwin J.G. Peterman is a molecular biophysicist, professor Physics of Living Systems, University Research Chair department of Physics and Astronomy Faculty of Sciences VU University Amsterdam. His group applies single-molecule techniques such as fluorescence microscopy and optical tweezers on motor proteins, DNA and DNA-binding proteins and membrane proteins.

Board member
Dr. J. Tim Marcus is a physicist and is working as an associate professor at the VU University Medical Center Amsterdam, in the department of Physics and Medical Technology. He does MRI studies on cardiac and lung function in different patient groups. He teaches physics and medical technology and he is a member of the Editorial board of the Dutch Journal of Physics (Nederlands Tijdschrift voor Natuurkunde).
