PhD students and postdoc researchers can apply for a travel grant. The grant, typically €500, is to be used for visiting research labs abroad. The conditions to receive a travel grant are:
The application letter should include a motivation and a recommendation by a supervisor. The application should be mailed to our secretary: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. The board of BioPM will decide typically within 2 weeks.
The society would appreciate if the applicant writes a short report of the lab visit to be shared with members on the BioPM website, and acknowledge the BioPM in reports related to the lab visit.
The thesis award is granted bi-annually for the best PhD thesis in the area of Biophysics and Biomedical Engineering.
The award consists of a certificate and a price of €2015 to be spend at the laureate's wish.
The research will be judged on the basis of:
Candidates have obtained their PhD degree at a Dutch university, on research in the area of Biophysics and Biomedical Engineering. The PhD ceremony must be between October 1, 2013, and August 1, 2015. The candidate, or his (co)–promotor, must be a member of the Society. The candidate is willing to present his work at the Dutch Biophysics conference, in Veldhoven, NL, on September 28th, 2015, at 15.00 hrs.
A submission consists of a link to a pdf version of the thesis, to be send by e-mail to: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
In addition, the candidate must submit a motivation letter of at most 1 A4, describing why his/her work is important, and why it deserves this award. The list of candidates will not be made public.
The jury will be appointed by the board of the Society.
Candidates must submit their thesis before July 1, 2015. The winner will be notified on September 7th, 2015. The award ceremony takes place at the Dutch Biophysics conference, Veldhoven, NL, on September 28th, 2015, during the evening program.

The board of the Society for Biophyiscs and Biomedical Technology (BIOPM) has decided to join DutchBiophysics, the very successful annual meeting on molecular and cellular biophysics, microscopy and, new from this year, biomedical engineering. The meeting consists of plenary sessions, with invited presentations by (inter)national speakers, and specialized, parallel oral and poster sessions. The total meeting will last for two days, Monday 28 and Tuesday 29 September. Two dedicated biomedical engineering sessions will take place on Monday.
At this meeting, BIOPM will award the biannual PhD thesis prize and poster prizes. For BIOPM and its members DutchBiophysics will replace the Day of Biophysics and Biomedical Technology.
In April, further details about the program and a call for abstracts will be announced and the registration site will open. Further information will appear on this site.

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS AND REGISTRATION
You are cordially invited to DutchBiophysics 2015, the annual Dutch Meeting on Molecular and Cellular Biophysics, to be held on 28 and 29 September at the NH Koningshof in Veldhoven.
The meeting is a joint event with the Annual Meeting of the Netherlands Society for Microscopy (NVvM, http://www.microscopie.nl) and the Biannual Meeting of the Society for Biophysics and Biomedical Technology (http://www.biopm.nl).
After a long break finally some news again from our society. It is not that nothing happened, just that circumstances prevented updating the website.
One major thing to mention is that we now can access the IFMBE journals that are published by Springer via this website. See the Links/Journal Links menu for instructions
This is the interactive site for all research on Biophysics and Biomedical Engineering in the Netherlands. It is maintained by the 'Vereniging voor Biofysica en Biomedische Technologie'.
